Bob Jones University Science Curriculum
BJU Press science curriculum incorporates Bible truths and Bible promises in the science lessons. Special attention is given to biblical truths that help the student develop a Christian worldview by showing God's nature and man's responsibility as revealed through creation. Each activity in the BJU Press science curriculum allows the students to practice multiple science process skills. BJU Press Science encourages hands-on-learning with science labs and activities. Stories of great scientists and their discoveries help students see the practical ways science can be applied. Students are encouraged to think about modern scientific issues, such as cancer, pollution, and energy, and to practice creation poblem-solving skills. Secondary science finesses students' critical-thinking and research skills in preparation for college-level courses.
Bob Jones University Social Studies Curriculum
BJU Press Social Studies curriculum offers clear opportunity to see how God has had His hand on human events to establish His kingdom. Students have the opportunity to study the lives of historical figures and learn how they either failed or succeeded in following God's standards. Students are also given opportunities to evaluate concepts, such as cultural values, economic issues, and governmental systems in the light of Scripture. Rather than merely teaching names and dates, the BJU Press Secondary Heritage Studies program uses a narative approach. This approach exposes the students to important and interesting details about historical people, places, and events. Students are challenged with higher order thinking questions and are encouraged to develop deeper learning skills using timelines, maps, web research, and other activities.
