WORD OF GOD ACADEMY
WOGA is currently enrolling ages K-5th Grade and has plans to
offer a pre-school for the 2011 school year. The school intends to
add at minimum one grade level per year with a goal of offering Pre-
K through 12th grade classes. The vision of WOGA includes building a
new high school on Word of God Ministries’ 143 acre site at 6645 Industrial
Loop at the corner of Buncombe Road.
One of the long-standing visions for Pastor James, his wife Chrissy and the founding
members of Word of God Ministries was for the ministry to have its own school. After
placing their first child at Summer Grove Baptist Academy in 2009, Pastor James and
Chrissy were so impressed with the standard of academic excellence in a truly
Christian environment they considered scrapping the idea of WOGM beginning its
own school and just supporting SGBA.
But the Lord had a plan in place that would go beyond our thoughts or imaginations!
Before the end of SGBA’s premier school year, Word of God Ministries was offered the
opportunity to acquire the school from Summer Grove Baptist Church. The name was
changed from "Summer Grove Baptist Academy" to WORD OF GOD ACADEMY. The
administration remains the same under the direction of Mr. Ed Hearron, the school's
Headmaster.
The education of children is the primary responsibility of parents. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; 11:18-21; Psalm 78:1-7; Psalm 127:3; Malachi 2:13-16 and Ephesians 6:4)
The education of children is a 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week process that continues from birth to maturity. (Deuteronomy 6:7;11:19 and Proverbs 22:6)
The education of children must have as its primary goals the salvation and discipleship of the next generation. (Psalm 78:6-7 and Matthew 28:19-20)
The education of children must be based on God's word as absolute truth. (Matthew 24:35 and Psalm 119)
The education of children must hold Christ as preeminent in all of life. (Colossians 2:3; 6:10)
The education of children must not hinder the spiritual and moral development of the next generation. (Matthew 18:6; 19:13-14; Mark 10:13-16 and Luke 18:15-17)
The education of children, if and when delegated to others by the parents, must be done by teachers chosen with utmost care to ensure that they follow these principles. (Exodus 18:21; I Samuel 1:27-28: 3:1-10)
The education of children results in the formation of a belief system or worldview that will be patterned after the belief systems or worldviews of the person's teachers. (Luke 6:40)
The education of children must lead to true wisdom by connecting all knowledge to a biblical world view frame of reference. (Romans 1:20; Psalm 19:1, Proverbs 4:5, 7; 3:19; 9:10; 1 Corinthians 8:1; 13:8; Romans 1:28)
The education of children must have a view of the future that includes the eternal perspective. (Colossians 3:1-2; Matthew 6:19-20; II Timothy 4:6-8; Acts 20:24; Hebrews 11:13 and Colossians 3:23-24)
